            Palliative Care Social Work

"Representing the concerns and interests of both Palliative Care Social Workers and of the patients and families with whom they work"

Welcome to the website for members of the Association of Palliative Care Social Workers.

Membership of the association is open to qualified Social Workers, registered with the General Social Care Council, who work in a specialist palliative care setting. This may be in voluntary and statutory hospices, hospitals and in the community.

One of the strengths of palliative care lies in its multi-disciplinary nature. The care is provided by a number of disciplines including social workers, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, chaplains, nurses and doctors. The specialist palliative care social worker focuses on the person in their social situation.
